ChessVG is a free, browser-based tool for creating chess board images and diagrams. By using ChessVG you agree to these terms. Please read them carefully.

The service

ChessVG lets you build a chess position, style it, and export it as a PNG or SVG image. The tool runs in your browser. It is provided free of charge, with no account required.

Your exports

You own the images you create with ChessVG, and the tool places no restriction on how you use your exports, including commercial use. One exception applies to the chess piece artwork itself: the piece sets come from the open-source Lichess project and remain subject to their own licenses. If you plan to redistribute the piece artwork as artwork, review those licenses first.

Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the service — for example, by attempting to disrupt it, overload it with automated requests, or use it to create unlawful or infringing material. You are responsible for the positions and content you produce.

Third-party content

Puzzles are loaded live from the free, open Lichess puzzle database. ChessVG is an independent tool and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Lichess or Chess.com. Links to external sites, such as ChessSolve and Ko-fi, are provided for convenience and are governed by those sites' own terms.

No warranty

ChessVG is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that exports will meet every requirement.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, ChessVG and its makers are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the service.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of ChessVG after changes take effect means you accept the revised terms.
